I came across this ad on Craigslist today. This guy says he has 3 Gulbransen Rialtos - free for the taking. Says they turn on but do not play; maybe because there are no speakers attached? Beats me ... figured I'd pass it along if anyone is interested.
Re: 3 Free Gulbransen Rialtos? Free Palace too! -- And some folks even giving away Rodgers!
I saw those pop up a while ago but I figured somebody would have grabbed them by now. If they're still available I guess there aren't folks like us that are crazy about the Rialto K's to go for them. I was thinking about contacting him to see if he would pull a couple of things for me (I'm missing a couple of indicator labels on my 1135 and maybe pick up a spare board with the LDR's just in case I get a bad one someday) if he runs out of patience and decides to junk them (an awful thought...). If I wasn't so darn far away I'm sure I'd be over there to get at least one of them just in case if I could find a place to hide it from my wife ;^)
I just saw an ad for a church that's giving away what appears to be a pretty nice looking 3M Rodgers classical model, roll top cover, two swells or swell/crescendo, AGO pedalboard. I'm a TO guy but if I was just 500 miles or so closer I'd have to pick it up just for the Christmas carol season...
Then there's the fellow that just posted a Gulbransen "Rialto II" on ebay. I sent him a note explaining that he really had a nice looking Rialto K (with 102/103 Leslies). I didn't have the heart with my first message to tell him that although he had what me and some others consider a great instrument there was no way he was going to get somebody to pay $2,000 for it. Of course it is ebay and a full moon might be coming up over the next 9 days or so...

Hi Gary. I just heard back from the guy with the 3 Rialtos; they are already given away. On top of that he has Rialto K1135 and 2 Premieres of his own that he is keeping! Sounds like your kind of guy [:)]. He said he has several 102/103 cabs he is looking to sell and I know some people on this forum are looking for some, so I gave him the organforum info and told him to make a post.
Regarding that so-called "Rialto II" on eBay - yeah I had already wrote to the seller telling him it was a Rialto K 1135. It looks pretty nice in the Ebony finish. 2 grand??? Well I guess everyone can dream.... (UPDATE: He wrote back and did change the listing. It was his grandmother's and he's trying to sell it. Still has the starting price at 2 Gs - you may have to break the news.....)
Nice to hear from you again. I haven;t had much time to spend on the forum lately ... now that the semester is coming to an end and I'm giving my final exam tomorrow, I can get back to just working ONE job (my full time gig as a programmer at another college) for a while.
Take care,
Jim
