I am looking to sell a Gulbransen Premier from 1969 as part of an estate sale. The original paperwork is included and it looks like it says the it is model PR3 (not sure if this means anything). I was hoping somebody could tell me approximately what it is worth and the best way to sell it?
You cannot get much for these organs unfortunately. If it is in perfect working condition maybe a few hundred bucks if you're lucky and can find a local buyer that really wants one. If there are technical problems with it (and given its agethat is not unlikely) you may consider just giving it away. I would start with local ads and flyers in places where people interested in organs would likely congregate (music stores, dance stidios, theaters, churches, etc.). I've seen Premieres on Craigslist/eBay once i a while dirt cheap or free. Sometimes you get people on eBay who have no idea what the organ is worth in this day and age asking insanely expensive prices; you will notice that they will never sell. I love old Gulbransens but they just don't sell for much as a general rule of thumb.
Hope this helps,

Jim's pretty much spot on. The organ market is pretty dead and you're sometimes lucky to give them away.
Just one thought. There is a fair number of organists out there who use the consoles from old organs like this to drive software-based organs. They're not worried about whether or not it works, as they'll just gut it and use the console, tabs and keys. A mention of this on the Miditzer site (www.virtualorgan.com) might catch the eye of someone in your area.
But again, you're not going to get much for it and Jim's few hundred $ is top of my expectations, too.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
You might want to mention where the organ is located. The most avid vintage organ buyers are reading the posts right here on the forum. Had a D in the past and would love to have another Gulbransen but alas I'm caught in the Recession right now. Good luck. It sounds like someone's treasure that deserves a great new home!
