  • Delivery of my Allen MDS Theatre 3

Readers might find this of interest. Although owning a beautiful Bohm Sinfonia 500SE I decided to look for a proper theatre organ and eventually found an Allen MDS Theatre 3 which could be split to get it into my music room. Even though the door is the widest of UK of UK sizes the configuration of walls at the end of a corridor meant that it would not go through in one piece. The Bohm also splits but in that there is no comparison. A couple of screws to loosen and then the manuals lift off the legs. No wires to undo, that is it. Now the Allen is a different beast as the video shows. As it was an early Christmas present 'Twas the Night Before Christmas seemed appropriate as a backing track and this was recorded using a couple of £10 microphones from EBay. They are very good for the money. They were positioned on top of the Allen. There are no line outputs from the Allen.

Congratulations--I think you'll find the MDS Theatre III a particularly nice instrument.

Here's a solo line registration that I find useful: on the Great, Tibias at 16-8-4, Diapason 16-8, and add the Celeste Tuning, along with tibia and main trem. It's not a traditional TO registration but a middle-of-the road with a lot of warmth.

On the solo, the saxes with solo strings can be wonderful.

    Enjoy your new baby.

Thanks for showing interest and the registration suggestion. The cabinet was already split when I purchased it but I do not know when.
