  • Technics SXF100

A friend has been offered a Technics SXF (or is it FXF) 100 for less than $1000. Does anyone know anything about this instrument. It appears to be more of a rock band entertainment organ, but it may have other uses. Any thoughts woud be appreciated.

    Re: Technics SXF100

Rock Band instrument it most certainly is not!

It's a home entertainment organ. If I recall correctly, it's the console version of the SX-G100 spinet, the last organ Technics produced. If I'm right, and your friend wants a highly versatile home organ, and if it's fully working, then that price is pretty good.

However, your friend should remember that the home organ market is now almost dead and some fine organs are being given away. Also, some spares for some Technics instruments can be hard, if not impossible to find these days, as Technics stopped making instruments some years ago.

A pic would let us confirm exactly what we're talking about. If it's an earlier Technics model, then $100 might be more like it.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
