• Monospace Font (e.g. for schematics)?

I made my first post yesterday in the Electronics sub-forum:

    http://organforum.com/forums/thread/83672.aspx

I had intended to include those ASCII schematics in the body of the post. But the monospace rendered correctly only on the Compose tab, not the Preview tab.

Is the forum software configured to suppress the <tt> tag? Remember, ASCII can say in a few hundred bytes what takes JPEG several thousand... ;)

Hmm... and the <url> tag doesn't work in this sub-forum? I tried to provide kind readers with a nice mouse-y click-y link-eroo!

I've selected Courier New for this message. In general, specifying fonts is going to be hit or miss as the person viewing the html must have the font specified installed on his or her machine. If not, the browser will choose a default.

There is a choice of editors on this forum which you select through your profile. The one I'm using has a link icon to insert a link, but it doesn't work as one would expect. If I just type a URL

    http://www.vots-atos.org

that becomes a link without doing anything at all as the editor recognizes its format and converts it to the correct markup.

The purpose of the link icon is to turn any text in your post into a link. So to link to the Keyboard Cat, I go back and select the first occurance of Keyboard Cat in this sentence, then click the link button. (The link button is disabled if no text is selected.) This pops up a window that allows me to enter the site URL and whether I want to open the link a new browser window or the current window. It also allows me to enter a title, which is the text that appears over a link when the mouse hovers it. Clicking update turns the selected text into a link to the site URL.

By design, the forum does not permit certain html constructs in posts, but you can enter raw html in the html view of the editor. If the editor doesn't like yourhtml, it will alter it. You can also insert formatted text fromWord by clicking on the Paste From Word icon in the toolbar.

    Hope this addresses you comments.
