I think that is the point of the "likes" on the forum. "Like" anonymity makes is to that there is no pressure to reciprocate, which hopefully make the "likes" a better indicator of quality posts.
Thank you. So I don't know if it was the person to whom my post was directed, or someone else, who liked it. I don't find that particularly helpful but it's of no great consequence.
