Hello,
Recently purchased a set of used 21 note chimes which were previously attached to an organ at some point and I am wanting to make a spectacular doorbell similar to this Deagan set.
New kid on the block here with limited experience of musical instruments and have a few questions which I am hoping to get some advice on:
Do appreciate any replies to assist me with restoring these chimes!

Recently purchased a set of used 21 note chimes which were previously attached to an organ at some point and I am wanting to make a spectacular doorbell similar to this Deagan set.
New kid on the block here with limited experience of musical instruments and have a few questions which I am hoping to get some advice on:
- There is no text on it indicating a manufacture or model and curious if anyone would at least know the manufacture and guesstimate as to the year it was made based on the pictures linked to at the bottom of this post. The plug on the top of each chime tube has "Velvatone" on it.
- I noticed that some of the slices of chime tube stuck inside the full chime tubes used to tune them have either broken and pieces have fallen out or they are completely missing so I am wondering how to go about re-tuning the tubes. Can I put a spectrum analyzer app on my phone to assist with tuning the tubes? Do I need to use brass tubing or can aluminum be used for the pieces that go inside the full tubes? Any tips or tricks as to the process of tuning? What exactly am I tuning? Tone, Frequency, Harmonics...?
- All the tubes are cracked at the top where the hanger plug got pounded in when new. The gentleman that I purchased these from indicated that 60/40 solder can be used to fill in the cracks to eliminate the buzzing that might occur but I was wondering if super glue would be a better choice to help with also securing the plug since the brass tube inside diameter has expanded risking the tube falling out of the plug.
Do appreciate any replies to assist me with restoring these chimes!
