  • Hammond M-3 generator and manual removal

    Hello there!
I recently moved to an upstairs apartment and need to move my trusty M-3. I cannot afford what the pros charge ($300 from the base of the staircase up 23 stairs) so I've decided to disassemble it and take it up in pieces. (I've worked on many mechanical/electrical things in the past so I'm confident in my abilities) I downloaded the service manual. My question is - is it possible to take out the manuals and generator As One Piece? Or, is it absolutely necessary to un-solder everything? I'll do it, but if there's an easier way, I'm all for it. Thank you all for being here!!!

You can't take the manuals and generator out in one piece. It would need to be three pieces, plus the cabinet. You'll still need two healthy strong people to get up those steps.

Good luck, but I don't recommend what you are suggesting.

Rent a set of Roll-or-Kari organ dollies, buy a case of beer and pizza, call two or three strong friends, and you can move it up the steps. I don't know where to rent the ROK's, but if you include your location in your profile you might find someone on the forum who is nearby with a set.

Thank you for the reply. I've been trying for nine months to get help moving it. No one is willing, dollies or not. So, I'm stuck taking it apart .
