  • Rodgers 520/30/25/35 disassemble stop tabs

    Hi Folks,

I recently bought an old Rodgers 530 and am progressing to bring it back to life to serve as midi-frontened for GrandOrgue. So far everything was quite easy and the instrument is not half as bad as some postings in the forum are saying. Its relatively easy to service, the pedal board needed new felts and one of the (still available) Fatar TP/8L needs to be replaced - wich is reasonable after 25 years. The rest works quite okay.

One of the few remaining headaches is to get access to the bulbs in the stop tab switches and replace them with LEDs. Reading the service manual, the front piece of the switch should be detachable. Unfortunately it does not say, how to do it and I don't want to break them. Rodgers built these switches into quite a lot of models and servicing the bulbs should not be rare.

Hence, can anyone give a hint, how to do it?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

    Really nobody?

It is old fashioned light bulbs and they burn-out, so someone must have done this sort repair before. Advise is still highly appreciated!

For those who just want to have a look how the project progresses and what has been accomplished so far, feel free to have a look here: https://therodgers530project.blogspot.com.

    Cheers

I think the tabs just "pop" off--try gently prying from one end or the other--or grab both ends by your finger tips and pull forward. The mechanism is probably like these from Artisan: http://artisanorgans.intartists.com/...ker_Stops.html

If you look at the Artisan, it should be obvious how the tab lifts off--held in place by the tabs around the pivot.

        Hi toodles,

perfect, that is exactly how it works. You are right, design is the same. Pulling off the right and then the left side is the most easy way to do it. Thanks!
