  • Allen 301C Need help removing console top

Well, this seems easy, but I have to admit I need help.
I’m trying to open/remove the console top on an Allen 301C.
It’s a two piece folding top that covers the keyboards when closed.
There are hinges on the back of the console, so it looks like the
top should lift up, but it won’t move. The hinges attach to the upper
section of a two piece back panel, and it’s hard to tell if the hinges
are part the top. I’ve looked for what is keeping the top from moving,
but I’m missing it. Hopefully some shipping screws somewhere.
If anyone has an idea what secures the top, let me know.
    Thanks for the help. Allan

Look under the keyboard shelf at each end below the end panels. You will see a black tab with a wood screw. Remove those screws and lift the front fo the end panels to hinge up the entire top.

      Thank you td,
The organ is at a friends home, so will try your idea on my next visit. I do remember a metal tab under the bottom keyboard, one at each end. Maybe that is what you reference?
I will post a later update when I have more information.

I might need to remove the top of an Allen 300C to get it into our upstairs apartment. What does the wiring look like on these older consoles? Are there harnesses that come apart? How much does each piece weigh?

        Thanks,
        Toby
