  • Orla Compact Theatre Organ help

Hi all, I'm new to The Organ Forum and have recently purchased an Orla Compact Theatre Organ which I think is a lovely instrument. I'm just getting familiar with the controls, settings etc. but one thing I can't solve I was hoping someone here may have the answer to. There is a lower split button which enables the 'special' bank of voices to be played on the lower keyboard above the split point which is fine. However the notes below the split point are raised by a full octave when this button is activated. Is there a way to customise this so that the pitch remains the same? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hmm, sorry I can't help immediately but the split feature isn't something I have used much yet... When I am next on the Orla, will have a play about and see if I can figure anything out. :->

      Hi ,
Have you tried holding down the octave button on that bank?
I notice on mine ,hold it down then you get a choice of up or down x2 steps controlled with the button controls

Raising the voices an octave below the split point is meant to take care of a problem that used to drive me crazy on organs that had a split point (the old pump organs come to mind). If the split is low enough to take care of any melody note (it would have to be at least several notes below middle C), then it is too low to play all of the chords needed om the left hand. With those voices an octave higher, the chords can be played an octave lower, and come out sounding just right.

My home organ is a Theatre III with an MDS II MIDI Expander.
