ADC 4600 Dead Key

Hi, I'm new to this Forum, but I'd like to see if I could get a few pointers on repairing a Allen ADC-4600 key that's dead.

I don't have my ADC manual right handy, but if I recall correctly, the organ has reed switches at the back of each key. If you select a stop and pass a magnet along the reed switches, they should all activate when the magnet passes. If the key is still dead with that test, the reed switch is probably broken. It is rare for reed switches to go bad, but it does happen. Just be sure when you replace it, it is aligned with the other reed switches. Otherwise, the note will actuate either just before or after the other keys.

Another thing to check if it has the glass reedswitches. Check to see if the magnet fell off the metal key adjuster that is attached to the back of the wooden keystick.

I thought about that because we had our share of loose magnets on the key adjusters when I worked there.

I see a loose magnet on a key stick now and then.
