For a while the organ would make a clicking noise when I switched it on and if you tried to play anything it was distorted. I left it for 5 minutes and it started to work ok, but now a few weeks later it will not switch on at all - no lights, nothing. I checked the mains plug fuse - even changed the plug but anything else is beyond me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Most likely bad power supply capacitors that have leaked and damaged some traces on the power supply board. This is somewhat common these days. The power supply board is located to the rear left side looking from the front. I have repaired a number of these.

Having now had a few students with failing e-caps in their EL models, the consensus (at least between them and me) is to change all the e-caps on that board, then check all the circuit tracks for damage and repair as required. Finally, reflow the solder joints on all plug/socket connections on the board. All three things have caused issues.
