• Another XB-2 Problem -- Effects Loop --

I have an XB-2 that I purchased used about a year and a half ago. Everything is working except for one small-ish problem.

My problem is in the effects loop. I can hear the effects when I plug into my Leslie 722, but the effects cannot be heard through the regular outputs. As for gigging goes, the Leslie cannot come with me - so I am wondering if anyones knows why this problem is happening. I am not sure if the effects signal is even supposed to run out of the regular 1/4" outs.

From the Effects Send it goes to an Ibanez TubeScreamer, then to a Holy Grail Reverb and then back to the Effects Return? Is this correct, or am I missing something? I am fairly new to the organ game, and hoping there is a relatively easy fix for this.

    Thanks!!!

I was not able to locate a user manual for the XB2 but I will give you a couple things to check.

The main thing is to verify the types ofjacks on both the organ and the effects unit.

OFTEN the effects units are stereo and often they use TRS jacks/plugs for the outputs to send the stereo out. If you plug into these with a regular 1/4 mono plug, that may short out the effect if it is sent on a TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) connector that is often called a "stereo" in Radio Shack terminology.

Some effects actually receive on the tip or the ring and return the signal via the opposite contact.

Essentially I am saying to verify the compatibility of the signal cables with BOTH the effect units AND the organ. The TRS and mono plugs will both plug into the 1/4 inch jack but may not connect to the signal paths in a compatible manner.

I looked up the Holy Grail unit and it is MONO output as it is intended for a guitar. If the XB2 has stereo audio outputs, then you need to likely send stereo effects on a TRS into the return in order to get effects on the XB2 outs... The leslie being a single channel would not care because both go to the leslie. This would be a cable that is intened to split a mono into a stereo plug... Mono 1/4 inch on one end and a Stereo or TRS at the other.

Also there may be an internal user setting of the XB2 to enable the effect return or to control the % of the effects for the mix.
