Has anyone tried these out? I have a 1/4 inch output from my Baldwin Encore that was donated to a goodwill (Don't know if it was added like the three switches on the front, two of which don't seem to do anything)

I've been running it into my computer system and I can get it to trigger midi through realtime audio to midi converters such as this one http://www.widisoft.com/english/widi-audio-to-midi-vst.html

But the audio output seems to be uneven through that jack(high pitches don't always come through or some pedal notes, all of which work fine when playing through the original speakers). Maybe its stereo and I'm running it through mono?

The main problem being the quality of the sound, the baldwin outputs a decent amount of static, as well as making strange warbling noises when chording while the output is coming from the 1/4 jack.

Any suggestions on cleaning up the audio signal?

Audio to MIDI convertors usually suck - especially the free ones. (But developments are on-going - watch for some interesting, but expensive software before too long.) They're OK on simple monophonic lines but no good for complex polyphonic stuff. You usually end up spending more time editing than it would take to draw in the notes!

As for the Encore, the only 1/4" jack I can think of is the stereo headphones socket and that should output everything. I have no idea what might cause the static or warbling. Perhaps someone's added an input and you're trying to record from that?

To be honest, if you want MIDI input, it would probably be easier and cheaper to buy a small input keyboard than fix the problems with the Encore - unless you're also using the Encore as an organ and playing it as such.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thanks for the reply, actually I'm using the original sounds just as much as the midi.

I use midi input keyboards as well, but the keys on the encore are much nicer than those. With the demo of widi audio to midi, it seems to pick up chords and various polyphony, except for when the output from 1/4 inch output warbles when chorded.

What would I look for in cleaning components inside the encore (very dirty in there) or is there nothing you can really clean in transistor organs?

      Thanks again.
