  • Replacement drawars -Korg BX - where to buy

I have a Korg BX3 in need of a few replacement drawbars. I contacted Korg and discovered there are two versions of the BX3 model. Mine is the earlier one which Korg no longer have parts for, the difference being the orientation of the electrical connectors on the individual drawbar. On one model the soldered connections are on the bottom, on the later model the soldered connections are on the top. So they are not interchangeable.

I've look around where to buy generic similar drawbars, the ones used in the add-on drawbar boxes, there's one for the Crumar range, just a box of drawbars and a midi interface so I know the individual drawbars can be got from somewhere. Does anyone know where that might be? Are they ALPS?

    Thanks

Can your existing drawbars not be saved?I repaired a particularly ratty BX3 and got it all functioning. At the moment I have a customer's CX3 on the bench with various issues.

The BX belongs to a performer/customer where at a gig some dood jumped on it and totally wrecked the drawbars. I glued up what could be saved but there's one or two I've just used normal slider pots but they're not quite right. It was I just haven't seen any for sale anywhere but know they are available.
From your comments I suspect we both repair stuff, I've done a number of BX3, last was flooded with beer, another needed a pot of wood glue as it was falling apart at the seams, yes I know, mad.

Ah I hadn't envisioned someone standing on one! I know the tact switches are alps, not sure about the sliders. Have you tried Robert Weatherford, the guy that made the replacement IC's for vintage BX/CX3's? He might know.

When I opened that BX, it took a real beating, was all sagging, many broken plastics, broken keys. I used a lot of superglue for the plastics and got my woodworking skills into action to replace and make many braces to fit internally for extra strength. On another I was puzzled, it sounded a bit strange so I checked the calibration of the tone generators, besides finding the Korg instruction a bit odd, for some reason just about all the trimmers were off the mark. And on another a dry joint appeared on one of the osc causing an all-bars-out sound but only on one octave. So far dispite all the and many faults I've seen on this generation of BX, they have been fixable, if not perhaps showing their age. Just the drawbar replacement, I'll investigate RW... looked, yeh that's where I got the schematics, shame about his ebay shop, it's a strange world we live in at the moment.

I'm not quite sure what happens at their gigs, he does tell me they get rather lively.

Could a set of drawbars from some other organ be possibly retrofitted ? I'm pretty sure I have the whole assembly out of a Hammond Concorde up in my attic. Contacts, wire pigtail - everything.

Thanks Larry, I've found there's a number of variations for these moden drawbars, this version of BX are mounted from above (sounds rude!) tag soldered connections hang from below.
