  • Rodgers 985 memory locking mechanism

    Greetings,
I have a very large Rodgers 985 organ (1989, first one off assembly line) and I dont have the key for the memory combo lock. Well Ive searched through the schematics and I cant find anything regarding this lock. I would like to bypass the lock but there are 8 wires connected to a board, which then connects to the lock. Do any of you know what wires, I can disconnect and wire together to bypass this? Ive enclosed pictures. Id appreciate any help you can offer.
    Thanks!!!

Alcoswitch is now part of TE Connectivity. I can't read the switch model number from the photo, but if you can read it, TE can probably at least provide you with documentation on what it is, if not a replacement.

You could try MCN Systems--he has a lot of parts for older Rodgers organs. http://www.mcnsystems.com/

Considering the number of wires going to the switch, I suspect is selects the memory in addition to locking it. I noticed on the input data stream, there are inputs for M1, M2, M3, and M4.

I got the answer I needed from someone at Rodgers. These switches were only on custom organs. Those small solid color wires, connect to memory banks, crescendo, tutti, and a few others things to lock it. I can jump the posts to the main white/red tracer and it will unlock everything. I do have one key. I didnt realize the key didnt turn as it was a computer key. It only unlocks memory bank 4. A friend is sending me a master key that unlocks the whole organ. Didnt realize that there were several different keys to lock and unlock the memory banks. I have #8. The master is #31.

Glad you found your answer. On some of Rodgers instruments, it's difficult to find the answers. I've got an 840, which also suffers from meager documentation. Fortunately, I have the tech manuals on the 760 and 830 which were very well documented, and they share much of the same circuitry.
