OK yall'.. I've got two days off of work and I'm going to attempt to take apart my Leslie 145 and restore it... it's full of cobwebs and wasps nests... my first question though is how should I get the Type 47 amp out? I can't get to the screws behind it.. the sound drum is in the way... how do I take that out correctly? Any links would be nice... or a short written description... anything before I try to tackle this with just my head...... sorry.. I didn't know where else to post this kind of topic...

I always thought the amp came out very easily, and that the screws were accessible without removing anything. Alas, I don't have one here to check! Post on the Yahoo Hammondzone group if no-one replies here.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I've never worked on a 145 but did work on a 100GK and a 22H. As far as I am aware there is only one screw in the front of the amp mounting (in the center - that goes directly into the wood of the cabinet) that needs to be taken out, then the amp can be slid out in one piece (with the feet still connected) from under the back mounting. You should NOT have to remove all 4 screws thatgo through the rubber "feet" of the amp in each corner. At least, that was the case on both of the Leslies I worked on. Again, I never worked on a 145 but based on the photos I have seen it seems to be the same situation. Others would know better than me. Of course be careful to disconnect the speaker wire plug and the AC plugs before pulling the amp all the way out. The 100GK I worked on was full of wasp nests too - maybe it was outside???

The photo below is linked from captain-foldback.com. They are one of the best resources for Leslie info I have come across on the web, and there are others as well. The one screw I am talking about is the one directlybelow where the red/black wire is plugged in to the front of the amp - there is a "triangle"-shaped cutout in the chasis that allows easy access to it as you can see..

Thanks for the info guys!!! I got the heavy bastard out and I'm cleaning it with Q-Tips and such.... looks like someone did some repairs on it over the years.... new Radio Shack capacitors inside.... I'll have to get the schematic now... .there's one bad tube...I guess it broke during transport.. unfortunately it's one of the big ones.... I'll have to get myself acquainted with it.... should I go ahead and justify the sacrifice and replace both at once? Anyways... I'd better get back to cleaning this sexy thing.... once again.. kudos to everyone for their help :)))))))))

          Noah,

captain-foldback.com has the schematics you are looking for. Go to http://www.captain-foldback.com/and click on "Leslie" at the bottom, then click on "Leslie Schematics" - they got lots of em

Or just go right here for the scan (the 145 cab uses the 147 amp as far asI know):
