• Various Questions Regarding an M100

    Hey everyone,

I'm new to these forums and new to the hammond as well. I recently picked up a Hammond M100 for free from a church and I have a few questions about the capabilities of the instrument. Being a 16 year old high school student, I have no experience with circuit diagrams or soldering, nor do I have a lot of available cash to invest in this. First off, the bass pedals worked when I tried them out at the church, but I assume they got disconnected during transit. Is there a way I could fix this myself? I realize that the problem could be a result of a number of different things, but maybe pedals are commonly disconnected and have an easy fix. Secondly, not having a leslie, I am left with having to connect the organ to my guitar amp via the phono input on the box attached to the expression pedal (I know its not the best way to do this, but I don't have the resources or skills to build an alternative.) This is working out fine, but the internal speakers are still producing sound. Is there a way I can temporarily disconnect these speakers?

    Thanks for your help,

If the organ was moved, there may be a broken wire from the pedals to the generator. Take off the generator cover and locate the wiring harness coming from the pedals. Check each wire (about 14) to make sure they are firmly attached to the generator terminals. Also, check the 6BA6 tube (small one on the main amp near the left). It may have come loose.

I assume you're connecting to an external amp for more volume? Why not just let the internal speakers play? Otherwise, disconnecting them requires to replace the speaker with an 8 ohm load resistor of about 20 watts. Running the amp with no load can damage the output transformer.

Hey, I'll make sure to check for broken wires to fix the pedals. The reason I want to disconnect the internal speakers is so I can run the organ through various effects such as a rotary emulator and a wah pedal. With my setup now, I have the affected sound coming out of the guitar amp, but I can still hear the unaffected sound coming from the internal speakers.
