Only a few drawbars work on the 2nd to the last C key on my M3. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know too much about this... and i wouldn't trust my opinion without consulting, but my first thought was that it had problems on some of the key contacts (like when you press a key down slowly how you can hear each draw bar enter). Depending on which drawbars are working.... maybe this helps. Hopefully. best of luck.

If the problem is limited to only that one note, you may have some dirty contacts, BUT, Hammond M &amp; L series spinets do not have foldback like the consoles (B, C, A-100, etc.) On the M-3, when a drawbar reaches it's highest frequency (example: 1' drawbar - F# an octave and 1/2 above middle C) higher notes will have no sound, unlike a console where on the next note (G) the tone will "drop back" an octave. By the time you get to the highest note on the upper manual, you will only have notes from the 1st 4 drawbars. This foldback can be added, but it either requires a "donor" organ for the key contacts and full length bussbars, or there are kits with these parts occasionally on ebay. NOTE! Making this alteration involves dismantling the manual assembly and working with very delicate resistance wires and contacts. If you are not a professional service tech who is familiar with the "innards" of the manual assembly, I would advise not trying to "do-it-yourself".</P>

Important aditional comment: the same problem exists on the second to the last C key on both upper and lower keyboards of my M3. Also, it has problems with only a few drawbars working on the last C key on both upper and lower keyboards.</P>

My problem isn't understanding foldback. I understand folback. My problem is the 2 C keys not playing all of the drawbars.</P>


Thoughts anyone?</P>

You might try turning the bussbar shifters slightly to get a fresh contact surface, but mark the original position before doing so.
