Hello All,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I've just purchased an FA-1 and am amazed at what it can do. Sure helps me sound like I know what I'm doing.<G>

Problem: Twice, since I got the organ, there has been a sharp snapping sound from behind and to the right of the display - sounds like a circuit breaker opening or a spark - and the display and organ quits. I can then power off and restart but the display then quickly reads something like "Initial Settings" before showing current organ settings. No problems playing thereafter but I lose all presets loaded from disk.

Do I need to open the back and look for a loose wire or other connection? There are no parts or repair facilities (found this out during all my reading of the limited info available online). I would hate to have a boat anchor on display in my living room. Any help would be appreciated.

Ooooo! I'm so jealous, here I am stuck with an EA5! :)

You should do some looking inside to see if something obvious is causing that to happen. Also, since you have noticed that service and/or parts are a bit hard to come by, get the service manual.

Panasonic may have that manual available, also look at safemanuals.com

If you need parts, sometimes you can get them from Panasonic. Almost all the parts show backordered, and sometimes that is just code for 'we do not have it', other times it will actually ship although it usually is a very slow process.

lparsons21, I noticed your name on the Technics Forum but it looks like participation is sparse so that's why I posted here.

If I could convince my wife that another $1,500 would be well spent for spare parts I could have picked up another FA-1 near me. She wants to know what I'm going to do withmy two keyboards as well asthe little Hammond taking up space in the garage.

I will be looking at the innards of my (new) organ. Hopefully there will be a red flag and a note saying "Here it is."

Yep, those Technics Yahoo forums are pretty quiet most of the time. If you post there, I see every post that goes to it and would respond, as would some others I'm sure.

I'm looking for a Technics console, but I'm a cheapskate and won't pay $1500 for one. I know there have been some going for less than $1000 on occasion.

The wife just slapped me (figuratively). I just looked up the other FA-1 in my area and the guy has reduced the price to $800, OBO. This after only 1 week. I told her I was going to get it for spare parts - got slapped again. If I hurry up and build herthe new bathroom she wants - maybe...

That is a motivated seller!! His ad indicates he's still willing to consider an offer. So offer $500 and if he takes it, be prepared to build that bathroom.

Or take her to dinner, roses, wine and all!!! Women are suckers for those things you know. :)

Here I am again. My FA1 has been performing flawlessly, except for the small part between the keyboard and the seat, until tonight. Played before dinner and now, when I try to power up, all I get is the console and music stand lights. No display, no nothing! Dead in the water.

If anyone has any ideas... I'm not happy about my fancy boat anchor in my living room.

Never did get that other FA1 for spare parts.
