I am moving an organ and need suggestions of how to get the 50 year-old blower out of the attic.
The attic is accessed by a trap door 30" by 36" in a hallway ceiling (12' above the floor). The attic floor is covered with plywood, and the roof line (ceiling) of the attic is 15' to 20' above the floor (rather awkward for placement of a block & tackle).
The blower has a 1 hp 440/220 three phase motor which I should be able to remove from the chassis -- if the bolts are not rusted tight. The fan portion is 30" to 36" in diameter (just an estimate). The overall appearance is that of a Spencer.
As a home organist/hobbyist, I have moved two organs prior to this. However, this is the first time I have had to deal with an elevated blower. I have been assured that the blower was installed through the trap door and not before the ceiling's wallboard was applied.
Any suggestions? Thanks - -
