Re: Funding for Church Pipe Organ Installation!

as I understand it you have the organ but no funds to install?

Is it a new organ? Or one that is being relocated? Or is it presently in storage?

I know nothing of any funding sources for this from public funds, but if you find some be sure to post back as I'm sure many would be interested!

I really don't think such funds are around but who knows..maybe Barack can get some funding to you via your local congressman. Worth a shot to at least ask! If you have a high seniority Democratic congressperson/senator they could probably earmark some funds for you.

          A serious questionneeding a properresponse. [^o)]

I don't believe you would findmuch in the way ofgrant money for the purposes of installing pipe organs - you are going to have to do some fund-raising. That will be a lot of work, especially in these times. However there is some good news: the AGO has resources available to help. Try the Guide to Pipe Organ Planning & Fund Raising.

This web pageon the AGO website has a list of several other resources regarding the purchase and installation of Pipe Organs.

I wish youluck in your project. [:)]

I fully agree with SB32's initial response.

The only funding source I'm aware offunds only true Skinner instruments. There are a great many foundations, trusts and charitable organizations that fund some pretty obscure things. You have to do your homework and seek them out. Best of luck in this endeavor.

Drifting from the topic just a bit -- if funding is tight (and I think it is for most organizations -- a builder recently mentioned to me that almost all new organ installations are funded by single donors rather than general subscriptions), I would recommend working with the Organ Clearinghouse. There is a great range (age, quality, condition, size, tone concept) of instruments out there in need of adoption, most at significant savings over new. This difference in cost between a newly commissioned instrument and a fine instrument from the Organ Clearinghouse is the easiest and largest "grant" you'll find!

Yes, I bought the organ from a private owner and amdonating 5 ranks to be installed to the existing instrument in the church where I play. (Wicks 4 rank). The remaining 6 ranks, and three manuel Moeller consoleI will donate to a nearby church for installation. This church only has front pipes on a chest that of course do not speak. They had a session meeting last night and I received an email that the rejected my proposal because, yes lack of funds. Oh to answer your questions the organ is a 1940 Moeller and has been in storage for 25 years and will be relocated. Thank you all for your input to my posting...I will keep pulling out stops for this endeavor and let everyone know of my progress Thanks!
