depends on how wild you want to get it unified.....and how many of those ranks go to 16' for the pedal ......my minimum spec would be of those ranks (the 16' reeds are optional of course):

That is in a nutshell basically the stoplist of my original 5 rank organ adjusted to your pipe ranks.

Really depends on how much you want to unify and have room for stoptabs etc..and what switching system you are using....that is basically everything unified to everything..giving the diapason most of the great..and the reeds most of the swell to contrast them .....I don't care for pitch couplers....as 16' TC stops of each rank are much nicer and less muddy just picking and choosing between your stops.

I would recommend a Dulciana... at 16/8/4 on the swell, and 8/4 on the great as well....it would blend well with the flute for a soft stop.

 Personally I would replace the Open Flute with a Gemshorn or a Dulcianna. I would replace the French Horn with a Clarinet.There are no couplers in this design

I love that mellow French Horn sound. Rather than a very reedy Clarinet, I like to make one up of with the Flutes at8' 2 2/3' and 1 3/5' It has a nice clear solo tone that is similiar to a Clarinet, and many electronic organs has done it for years. I have a CD of Bob Ralston playing a Barton Theater Pipe Organ, and I notice his use of this setting quite often.

What five ranks did you start out with NYCfarmboy?

started out as the original as built 1948 opus 822 Reuter:

97 notes Bourdon, unified from 16' thru 2'

73 notes Diapason

73 notes Oboe

73 notes Salicional

73 notes Dulciana

all highly unified.

I have the original console still wired up to operate the organ exactly as it did in 1948...and a 2nd console that operates all 21 ranks I now have running (somewhat).

Once you start adding ranks beyond the 4 basic type of ranks (flute/diapason/string/reed) ranks I feel you do have to go past the 20 rank threshold to make a big difference...a 4 or 5 rank unit organ is so diverse...and once you start adding from that you are only adding a different shade of a flavor you already have so the net gain per rank is very dimenished after you get a good rank of each type in that sounds good for your home.

...for a home installation I HIGHLY recommend a celeste with a string as well...i think my recommendation for a basic 5 rank unit organ for the HOME would be to have a Dulciana with a Dulciana celeste instead of a Salicional if space were at a premium.
