  • LCD Display for Hauptwerk

I did a simple set of mods to a sketch for the Teensy 3.6 and now have an LCD display on a budget. Details on the Project Tab at my website www.kinkennon.com. Just download the sketch, connect three wires, and you are in business. The file download is text so just select it in the browser and save to HauptwerkLDC.ico. LDC is a serial enabled unit from Sparkfun, part # LCD-090607.

Just an addition that I will probably update the LCD Display project to drive 4 displays as that's the number of serial ports available on the Teensy 3.6. I may need to do an extra power regulator just depending on current draw. I understand that Grand Orgue uses the same 39-byte format for LCD displays -- perhaps someone can try that.

Ups, GO <= 2293 only generates a 38 bytes event :-( Fix will be part of GO 2294+.
PS: GO 2285+ offers more options for producing display content.

I now have a four LCD version of the project on my web site. I'm getting a couple more LCD displays later in the week and will see hoe much current three of them draw. It would be good to look at a more flexible graphics display so I will try to see what display is easy to use with the Teensy and give that a shot as well. Don't want to overdo the project to the point it becomes a touchscreen though.

If someone has the Grande Orgue 38 byte display format I'd like to add that for a friend who uses GO. I sent him my prototype four LCD display adapter and he can't use it. I'll have the first three boards within a week and will order a bunch of them if they look good. The same PCB can serve as a 4-port serial breakout for the Teensy 3.5/3.6 models.
