  • VPO Setup Questions

Hi there. I’m a newbie and recently got my vpo all set up and running. Is there anyone viewing this post right now that would be willing to talk to me on the phone now and answer some questions I have about hauptwerk/versions/computer specs? Thanks so much Donna/xxx-xxx-xxxx

Hi I still would like to talk to someone on the phone to ask a few questions regarding the versions of hauptwerk and about computers ......anyone available? Meanwhile, do you prefer a pc or a laptop to use with your VPO?

It's really not a good idea to post your phone number on the open Internet. Best to have people contact you via private message or email first and then pass out your phone number. Your choice, but as you'll no longer be able to edit that post, you'll have to ask me or moderator to remove it at this time.

I would suggest asking your questions here, in the Forum, as you'll get a spectrum of information rather than just one caller's opinion.

As for the choice between a laptop and desktop, I think a desktop is preferable for all but the most rudimentary setups. Desktops usually provide more horsepower for the $$$ and are more easily expandable in terms of memory. If you're planning on using touchscreen interfaces, the laptop screen may be redundant and too small. Also, with Hauptwerk, you have the issue of the dongle, which is probably something you don't want to risk losing if you take your laptop off premises. So, your choice has to do more with cost, convenience, and form factor of your setup as there is no dearth of capable laptops suitable for this purpose.
