    Hi,

I have just downloaded grandorgue and connected it to my midi keyboard.

Everything works ok but there seems to be a piano sound in the background when striking the keys.

If you turn off all the stops I then have a piano sound on my keyboard coming from the program.

Any ideas of how to turn this off?

    Thanks

    Nick.

Hi, Nick - Welcome to the forum! I use Hauptwerk on a digital organ, but it sounds like your keyboard is a piano! Is it a stage piano or similar? Or are you playing the GO sounds through the keyboard?

    Have you rebooted your PC?

Be sure to set your keyboard to only use the external controller for output. I have to do that with my Yamaha keyboard.

Hi Nick, I have just installed GrandOrgue and had the same problem. Go to Midi & Audio Settings, then MIDI devices, make sure that the "Send MIDI Recorder Output Stream to" is set to "No Device". It worked for me. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Tried to download one of Petre Grabowski new organs, which he says is more difficult than the downloads with a separate download link for Grand Orgue. He has produced a video on how to download and extract files from a Hauptwerk and Grande Orgue combined .RAR file on his Organ website. I can download the Organ from the website into the.RAR file, then uses 7-Zip to extract the Combined Hauptwerk and Grand Orgue RAR file into the .organ file for Grand Orgue, with the little keyboard symbol in front of it. I can run the 7-Zip file to extract the files from the .RAR file, but i can't get the keyboard symbol with the .Organ file. This happens no matter what Grand Orgue organ i try to download from his website. Where am i going wrong here? Someone of this Forum must have successfully done this. Your help Guys would be most appreciated.

What particular organ(s) are you trying to download?

I've downloaded and installed Grandorgue and some of Piotr's sets, but none of the new, big commercial ones, and I've never gone through the process you mention. Most of the forum contributors I have read use those organs with Hauptwerk. We might have the answer for you, but it may also make sense to post this on Grandorgue's forum as well.

                  What is the error message?

              • #10
Hi tBeck, thanks for getting back. Error message says failed to read file '/Applications/'. I moved Lar's IR file to applications with no result. Also his file looks like it is for linux? Does this matter?
                Thanks SWG

I personally use GO in linux, so on a PC (actually the VPO computer has several linux distros), but I am here on my Mac and just downloaded the Mac installer for GrandOrgue, the latest (GrandOrgue-0.3.1.2321-Darwin.dmg) I believe. I installed it and when I opened the 'Midi & Audio Settings - > Reverb' and clicked on "Enable Convolution Reverb" an error window popped up and said "Warning This feature is currently not supported". Then when I clicked "OK" I got the error message you are referring to: "Reverb error Failed to read file '/Applications/' Please select a valid impulse response file". So this last error must be some coding mistake that is irrelevant considering the first error message. I am not aware of a newer version of GO for the Mac. I have never tried to get GO running on a Mac but I am getting sound output (without an actual MIDI keyboard), and with I guess the default reverb, but I do notice that in the "Log Messages" there is one that (on this machine) says "Can't read from the file descriptor 11 (error 21: is a directory)" and a second "Error: RtMidi error: MidiInCore::initialize: error creating OS-X Midi client object". I'm not sure what either means or whether they are relevant considering I can set stops and "play" notes using the computer mouse and keyboard. The second error I get ("RtMidi") appears whenever I open and close the "Audio/Midi Settings" windows. I also have had the program hang ("not responding") with the rotating cursor (in NeXtStep we called it the 'pizza wheel of death') and I had to 'Force Quit' GO.
So I think I have explained the problem that you posted but it seems that the current Mac version of GO is also a bit finicky.

                  @DFSpencer,

Welcome to the Forum! May I recommend making comments of this length as a post rather than a comment?

I have used the IR file from Lars in GrandOrgue on my linux PC without a problem. I'm not familiar with Apple products.

Try downloading the file again, and make sure you are trying to load the actual file rather than a directory. Maybe someone familiar with Apple will have more insight.

The message "Warning this feature is currently not supported" can safely be ignored.

If there is a problem with the Mac version you should make a post on the link provided here.

I'm having trouble downloading either of these Lars Palo samplesets from his website. I'm using a Mac and GrandOrgue. Both downloads fail and I get a message saying download failed as the download is a security risk. I contacted Apple and they say my settings are OK. I use Google and Firefox. The large data file seems to download but the smaller file shows failed.

Has anyone got suggestions as I'd like to try these sets? Thanks.

I use a download manager named "Folx Go" on my system. Not sure that's the best one, as there seems to be newer ones these days, but that usually helps to sort out my download problems.

I also had a problem downloading Lars' sample sets. Using a download manager solved the problem.

Same with me; I had problems downloading samplesets until I used a download manager.
