  • Hammond B3 with Leslie 122

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I was just wondering if anyone new anything about this organ. My friend's had it in the basement for years and has been interested in selling it. Thank you very much.

This is a late '50s C-3 with likely a 22H Leslie speaker. This is the absolute iconic Hammond type and combination. The only thing that would make this better would be if it had the open case style, the B-3. Condition appears exceptional, and even if it was currently non-function, it would make collectors eyes light up wherever it was offered or shown.

Where are you located? Location plays a big part in the value of an organ. Here on the West coast of the US, they're fairly abundant and fetch much lower prices than in the UK or Western Europe. You should look at the other side of the Leslie and see what the builder's plate says for the model number to confirm it is in fact a 122. Several models had the same wood cabinet - a 122 is worth a little more than a 22H. I would also suggest against selling them separately if the goal is to free up space. It's much harder to sell a console than a Leslie, and many people I know buy Leslies just so they can pair them with a console to sell.

Hmm, I'm not sure what the market there is like. Does it work? If it works and looks that nice, you could start around... $5000 at the upper end? Someone else can correct me, but I think that's probably a good starting point for one that looks that nice. For reference, I think in Oregon I'd ask around $2400 at the upper end.
