  • Gulbransen organ

Recently inherited a nice older Model B I believe. Would like to know approximately value. Appears to be in good/ excellent condition. Located in Buffalo NY.

    Thanks,
    Tim

A nice old instrument, and a photo or two would let us confirm the model, but alas the value is as near to zero as makes no difference. Age alone would mean that some repairs would be required and that's economically unviable as the eventual value would still be almost zero. Restorations are done as a labour of love, not for financial gain (old organs are not like old cars, or some of us on here would be making a fortune and we'd have our our TV series about it!).

The home organ market is all but dead and there are thousands of organs out there and few buyers. More recent models are selling, but at low prices. Just a small few oldies are regarded as 'classic' and do still command a price. However, though there are fans of old Gulbransens out there (and some on here), most already have their old Gulbransens.

Post a photo or two (or if you can't do that due to being a new member, just email them to me via my website and I'll add them to the thread) and we'll confirm what you've got and advise a bit further. The photos would be welcome for our archives, there aren't that many good photos of some oldies.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

        Photos added.

A B-2 would have a set of white preset pistons between the manuals. This is a straight model B, from around 1957. Info here: http://theatreorgans.com/hammond/ken...en%20organ.htm

Now it's a rare one, and that might just interest some collectors but it doesn't really do much for the value.

I'll copy the photos over to the Vintage Organs Facebook Group, you never know, there might be someone there who's interested.
