  • Info GEM H2000?

Was browsing a local thrift store and saw this GEM H2000 with the performer 2. Was wonder I'd i could find any info on the worth or quality of it. Not sure what they're asking but wanted to see if i coi could get any idea about all that before I inquired more with them. Mainly want to grab it as something we could mess around with in the DIY recording studio we made to record ourselves and local bands. Don't necessarily want to use it for recording persay but something to fiddle with and with it's size seemed a cool fit especially of the price is worth it and it works. So any info would be great from worth to age to how hard any issues would be to fix. Thanks in advance.

Quality, OK, but nothing special. By the time of the H series, Gem were producing organs of a much higher quality than in previous years - some of the Galanti ones were dire! So the voicing is quite passable for an analogue organ of the late 70s/early 80s. It has a built in Leslie speaker, so that's a big plus.

Value? Basically zero, as that's the sad state of the market. You could easily pick up something newer, bigger and better for free or for pennies! (I sold two of the organ in this photo - one fully working and one packed up in boxes for spares - for less than £30 a few years back and although its value has bounced back, it's still no more than £150 or so.)

But, as they say, everything has a value and it is in a charity shop. If they're asking more than £25 to £30 for it, that's too much, even for a good cause. They probably have no idea of its value and you'll see similar organs on ebay advertised for hundreds. No way do they sell for that, if at all.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Appreciate it thats basically the info i was looking for as organs aren't my particular area of expertise, a lot better with guitars, amps (heads and cabs), pas and mixers, mics and other equipment of that sort.
