I am hoping to buy an Allen Protégé AP-15 organ from a lady who used it as her home practice organ. We haven't settled on a price yet since she is still looking for an organ to upgrade to. When the time comes I want to be prepared to give her a fair offer for her instrument. Any ideas about the worth of this particular model? It is in good working order and she bought it used from a dealer I trust, so it has at least been serviced in recent past.

I found a list of suggested used Allen prices here on the forum but could not find this particular model and I was unsure what models most closely resembled it in features.

Here is the only manual I could find to give you an idea of the specs. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/...g.pdf?lang=eng

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

My guess would be $8k - $12k (especially if it comes with some external speakers). While it is only a two-manual organ with a mid-sized stop list (and 15-20 years old), it has a 'console controller', the 'acoustic portrait' reverb (which is pretty good), lumitech stops, full midi implementation, and new enough tone generation tech that it will sound good and you won't hear any audio defects.

You could definitely offer less (as it is a buyers market in the organ world these days), but I think $8k would be a fair place to start unless there are some major issues with the organ.

      Sam,

I might say a little less, as I think you're pretty close to the original selling price at $12k. Otherwise, your synopsis is spot on.

P.S. The LDS stoplist may be a bit different than a stock model, but it is definitely close to what you'll find.

Thanks for the insight! It's nice to know which features are still relevant on an aging organ.
