  • Can anyone tell me what this is?

    Hi All,

I just came across this machine which is available in my local area: https://www.donedeal.ie/keyboards-fo...board/25302956

By looking at the pictures I'm guessing it's an Italian 70's job. Any experts on here able to tell the make & model?

To be honest, I'm not looking for a top-end instrument, just something to play around with. I'm tempted by this one as I live not that far away from the seller & could fit it in the back of the car with the seats down. I've no intention of paying 200 quid for it though. Any ideas of a more realistic offer I could make?

I'd also be interested to know what sort of technology it uses for tone generation. If it's based around discreet components i.e. can be serviced with a manual, multimeter & soldering iron it'd do me (I am an electronics engineer by trade), however if it's based on ICs which can no longer be got I couldn't be bothered.

    Patiently awaiting your expert opinions...

Looks like a 70's Thomas organ. I suspect it sounds so bad that free might be overpaying. Notice that it only has 8 foot stops, which are filtered versions of a single waveform. I am not sure of the technology inside. I'm sure it is transistors, and probably some common ICs.

The angled pedals definitely make it a Thomas organ, and it is a very low end model.

Thanks for your replies edkennedy & toodles. I suspected it was probably worth very little if anything at all. I notice that the seller has now dropped the price to 100 & mentioned that it needs to go asap, so I'll wait & keep an eye on it...
