  • Farfisa FAR clone

    Hi!
The project is to clone the FAR power supply with Reverb and Preamp so i am looking for some info
1)The link below doesnt work anymore so if anyone hane a copy ,it would be great!
    http://homepages.tesco.net/~david.ba...sa/Psu/psu.htm

2)The schematic is clear but i dont know the specs of the mystery reverb transformer + reverb tank
    http://farfisa.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/F-AR.jpg

3)Is there a schematic version of Far with opamps(LM833) instead of germaniums?

    Thanks for any help!

I actually built a copy of the F/AR after acquiring a Compact Duo with the power supply missing.

I could not find specs on the reverb drive transformer and did not have access to one to test, so I gave up and used a single chip amp to drive the reverb tank. The reverb tank was a standard Hammond/Gibbs tank, and I have the part number somewhere. I got mine from Accutronics, now owned by Belton.

The F/AR was designed and built before opamps entered general use. I built mine with Ge BJTs.

I used a 24V regulator chip at the main power supply node to reduce power supply ripple.

Position/orientation of the power transformers is critical for low noise.

The 7-pin Amphenol socket is somewhat rare, but I did find one.

The 7 pin amphenols do crop up on ebay now and then, in fact I bought about four in one auction. My MKII Duo came from the US to the UK and I fitted a 7 pin female to my european F/AR to mate them up.

everything I had is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uHh...ew?usp=sharing a 13MB archive, schematics, old adverts, how to fix osc, psu and some technical stuff. Looking at it now 20 years later, a few errors and my concern is that mains transformer size, 30VA is min. I've seen a number fail, just make it bigger.
