  • Peter and the Wolf on the Organ

Does anyone know if a recording of Peter and the Wolf performed on the organ exists? I think it would be a great way to introduce both the instruments of the orchestra AND the organ to students (e.g., the organ uses the flute stop to play the bird's theme, etc.)

I know Stephen Simon from Maestro Classics and the Handel Society of NYC was a well known organist & conductor who recorded Peter and the Wolf, but I don't think he performed it on the organ: https://www.maestroclassics.com/peter-and-the-wolf.html

Any thoughts on whether or not this kind of recording exists?

    Thanks!

I heard a version on Pipedreams 10 years ago. It can be streamed from this link.

SERGEI PROKOFIEV: Peter and the Wolf –George Woods, narrator; Jelani Eddington (1929 Wurlitzer/Plummer Auditorium, Fullerton, CA) RJE Productions 2103

A couple of years ago I was working on an arrangement that I still haven't finished. I was having fun playing the grandfather theme on the pedals. IIRC, the piano score did not seem that difficult to play on the organ.
