  • Organ Music For The Eucharist?

Hello All, I am hoping for some recommendations.

I am an organist and am looking to find new repertoire to play during the Eucharist (or communion, sacrament or whatever you want to call it!)

I find I am playing the same things over and over again and need some new repertoire. I tend to play chorale preludes and some French organ music at the moment. I was hoping to find some pieces from the romantic-20th century time but any suggestions are welcomed! :-)

Charles Callahan has published several volumes of hymn-tune settings for communion. Here is a two volume set link:

Wow, that is a nice find. I love Charles Callahan but not (usually) the prices for his music. I have a chorale prelude of his on "Union Seminary" (Join Us In the Spirit's Tether") and it was like $18.00 for just the one piece.

You can never go wrong with some of the simple Bach preludes. Virgil Fox would approve.:-)

There is a plethora of organ scores on IMSLP.org.

All public domain and downloadable in PDF format.

My digital library consists (currently and growing) 4.39 Gb ... 447 folders (one for each composer) containing 2,479 files

What are the most beautiful stops on your instrument? How large is it? That might spark some ideas.

Also, what denomination? What kind of repertoire does the congregation sing? Is there a choir? If so, what kind of repertoire do they sing? This will help us suggest something that's stylistically inline with the present situation.
