• Thank you, from the bottom of my heart....

To whomever posted these youtube videos, a sincere thank you. As a young person stuck in the middle of nowhere without a current church during the last years of grad school (you don't want to be a young unknown in an unfamiliar church-- uncomfy situation!!) I literally get goosebumps when I see these videos. It reminds me of my home congregation and how we actually sang real music well with decent organs and the like.

I really wish there were more of these videos of such true gems of Lutheran tunes. I wish that there were CDs of musical congregations singing real music like this it would really lighten up a lot of people's day. Perhaps we should call it "The Buzzyreed Project."

Until I get the Lilly Endowment grant and McArthur prize, please continue to post real hymnody on youtube, especially from these two congregations!

Those clips were [8-)] ok... I guess.

But the congregations were tiny, andI could only hear a couple choir memberssinging (loudly) in the second clip.

It didn't seem like the organist did very much with the hymn ineither clip. That especially surprises me in the second clip, since it wasan Easter service! They might have changed a few chords, sung a descant, added a trumpet or two...?

Anyway, I had posted this rather inspiring clip - perhaps you missed it: REPTON at Westminster Abbey

Oh, I'm going to tack onone more! [] I just found this ... one of my favorite hymns, an absolutely riveting rendition (forgive the blip at the beginning): ST. ANNE at Westminster Abbey

My point was that it was real music. There is so much to be said for performing finely crafted, yet simple music well, if you don't get that.. (not you personaly, Sous Basse) you need to rethink what you're doing. So many choirmasters and organists just..ugh..
