I have just been listening to a CD where the organist, who is playing an EL90, is creating a double tonguing effect using a trumpet sound. Any comments on how to go about reproducing this effect? It varies across the piece sufficiently that I am sure skill is being used, rather than a special sound.

Probably best described by brass players as triple toungeing.
You can do what Foureyes suggested, and that can work very well. Alternating 2nd and 3rd singers also works. However the 'correct' or 'professional' way to do this would be to repeatedly strike the key with fingers 4, 3 then 2. So 4 3 2 4 3 2 4 3 2 etc. Harder to do and needs a lot of practice, but if you can master it, it's a great skill.
Which way you choose might be influenced by how often you think you'll need to do it! If it's only occasionally, then thumb and 2nd finger will be fine. If you're planning on playing a lot of tricky brass pieces, then the harder method will pay dividends. It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
