Saw him play in 87,88 and 1990. Great single stop usage and the music had heart to it. Same concept as Horowitz playing the piano. The piano would sing as though it had a life of its own. Same with George at the Mighty Wurlitzer. At ATOS summer afterglow (7/1987) he played at the theater in San Diego. He had some kind of breathing congestion at that time. But played the organ with excellence and great rendition of "All of Me" and "I Cover the Waterfront." 4 months later his Oakland Paramount Concert excellent as well (he could breathe better also). Amazing and he also had a jazz side to go with that. The organ sang and he was a master at stop usage and expression (a sensitive ear). If a rank of pipes was not working, he simply would not play it. </p>

Heard that George's Rialto concerts exceptional on the 2/16 Wurlitzer. He must have been amazing at the San Francisco Fox and New York Paramount Theaters. The Chicago I and Chicago II CDs a couple of my favorite recordings on the 4/28 Wurlitzer. He had a good sense of humor as well.
