  • Trackers in Denver? (cross-posted to PIPORG-L)

It seems that in the current version of my fall vacation plans, I'll be spending two Sundays in Chicago, and one in Denver (the latter could change to a Sunday in Rapid City, or one spent mostly at home).

The OHS database doesn't show a lot of trackers in Denver (at least, that are still extant, installed in churches, and in regular use). Anybody know of others?

You're a 'tracker' guy? Oh, one of those. [:D] (Just kidding, you know.)

Well if no luck finding a tracker, be certain to visit Denver's Episcopal cathedral, more info here. I have a recording of the organ, and from what I have been told, the Anglican tradition is alive and well. Just don't expect any 'high' Anglo-Catholic celebration, yet with the exception of Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, most British cathedrals are along the lines of Denver.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

Know anything about "Merciful Savior" at 32nd & Wyandot?

(And yes, I am "one of those." In fact, I consider myself to be a militant tracker-backer.[:P]

You're funny. How times change, but how they don't, especially with organists, the most conservative of the lot.

I'll never forget at uni (was this around 1999 or so?) one of my know-it-all class mates announced: 'the American Classic just doesn't work.'

One would have thought the issue had died years ago, pace Fritz Noack, and Seattle's St. Mark's Cathedral. But those organs are severely limited in accompanying Anglican chant, canticles or anthems. Yet the US Episcopal Church doesn't really need to be concerned about that, does it? Just depends on how we were trained.
