  • Info on the 1930 organ at Bern Cathedral (Bern Münster)?

Does anyone have details about the 1930 organ at the Bern Cathedral (Switzerland)? The cathedral's website has link that should open a PDF document, but I haven't had any luck in doing so.

I'd like to see if I can open the PDF you mentioned -could you provide a link to the page?

I looked briefly (I'm pressed for time) at their website and only found mention of the most recent rebuild (1999/2000), plus details of the other organs currently located there.

I'm curious - what is your interest in the 1930 instrument specifically? That organ was changed many times before- and after - that date.

I apologize for the delay in responding... I've been busy.

The link is http://www.bernermuenster.ch/sites/bm/bm_muenster_orgeln.html. Indeed, it is in German. However, using the Google toolbar I translated it into English.

I probably referred to the incorrect instrument in my first post, soubasse32. I am interested in the "main organ," as the website refers to the instrument. I happened to run across an episode of Diane Bish's show (I know, I know!), and was intrigued by it.

Soubasse32: "Johann" is German; "Johan" is Dutch.[:)] The advantage to the German spelling is that people realize that it isn't just John misspelled. [:O]

Thanks for the link. Very interesting reading (once translated). [:)] I saw a Diane Bish episode filmed there, too. The PDF link won't work for me, either

There is a nice recording of the Bern instrument by Christopher Herrick; I've been listening to it over the weekend.

Here is a linkto the organ stoplist.
