I enjoy my bone naturals (and ebony sharps) at home. I do prefer ivory, but I was lucky to get bone. The ebony is nice. It is not solid black, but rather has dark brown highlights (so to speak) in it.

Inverted colours! Oh, I just love it. I have no idea why.
But, for materials: Anything but plastic.
Ivory, if possible (but not the cheap imitation, meaning you would have to go antique/vintage to get it) and wood, second.
I'll have to ask the guys what the keys of the Wenatchee 2/10 Wurlitzer are made out of, as they had been worn so far most of them were replaced. They have a nice feel.
Additional thoughts: In our church, I play a Hammond. Hammonds have plastic keys. I am surprised how much this affects my playing abilities. Often, I have so much trouble that I just up and go to the piano, get the muscle memory down there, and then go back to the organ. (Not during the service, of course! Just during practice).Last edited by zylstra555; 08-11-2010, 12:01 AM.

Keyboard Coverings
Does anyone have a preference for a particular material for keyboard tops? Plastic, bone, ivory or some type of wood?Tags: None
