  • Chimes and Temperment

I know just enough about temperments to be really dangerous. Is my understanding correct that "Kirnberger III" is a variation of equal temperment that just slightly favors the keys with fewer than 4 sharps or flats?

If an organ is tuned to Kirnberger III and its Deagan chimes are typical "A 440" will that be acceptable or will it be off enough to be noticeable (and intolerable)?

    Thanks-

My guess would be that if the organ is Kirnberger III A440 that it would sound okay with the chimes.
