Where can I find info on Hillgreen-Lane,and more specifically an opus list?

    Re: Hillgreen Lane

Robert Hillgreen was a kindly old soul who ran a decent shop. The communities in the midwest closest to his facilities had many of his basic

2-manual organs. Here is one from the teens that was rebuilt slightly by a small outfit ;located in an RC institution but not playable at this time:

    Great

    enclosed

    open diapason 8

    grosse flute 8

    viola 8

    dulciana 8

    harmonic flute 4

    flageolet 2

    swell

    bourdon 16

    open diapason 8

    gedeckt 8

    viol d orch 8

    vox celeste 8

    aeoline 8

    rohr flute 4

    oboe 8

    vox humana 8

    pedal

    cathedral bourdon 16

    lieblich gedeckt 16

    grosse flute 8

    dolce 8

When this organ was playable it was a sweet sound and not ponderous or opaque.

Around 1949 a former voicer from Aeolian-Skinner came to Hillgreens and worked as tonal director and began producing decent-sounding

organs quite similar in tone and design to G Donald Harrison.

Here's one for a Methodist installation that re-used old pipes integrated into a modern mid-50s specification:

    great

    unenclosed

    quintaton 16

    diapason 8

    hohlflute 8

    octave 4

    fourniture III-IV

    swell

    geigen diapason 8

    rohrflute 8

    salicional 8

    voix celeste 8

    spitzflute 4

    chalumeau 16

    trumpet 8

    hautbois 4

    choir

    viola 8

    stopped diapason 8

    dulciana 8

    spillflute 4

    nasat 2-2/3

    flageolet 2

    terz 1-3/5

    pedal

    soubasse 32

    contrabass 16

    quintaton 16

    lieblich gedeckt 16

    octave 8

    quintaton 8

    gedeckt 8

    quint 5-1/3

    super octave 4

    cor de nuit 4

    klein gedeckt 4

    flute 2

    harmonics II

    chalumeau 16

Again a very sweet organ in a dry acoustic and very successful none-the-less.

A good flue voicer was on staff in the 70s and the firm was on-board with the trend of more brilliance brought about by the neo-classic movement.

Hillgreens obtained all of the reeds from Schopp's located across the street there.

When Robert Hillgreen Sr passed the Son decided to simply close.

The first pipe organ I ever played was a Hillgreen Lane organ!

While all this info is nice, and I do appreciate it, I was hoping someone might know where I could find an opus list for Hillgreen-Lane, so I repeat my earlier question, where might I find an opus list for Hillgreen_Lane.

          try this on for size
it may or may not be complete
the oinstrument listed near the top by Opus number at Zion Lutheran Church Akron Ohio was the first pipe organ I ever saw - and I played it many times as a student - typical, instrument of its time but really not a thrill to play.
          Still being played, too
