  • Moller pipe organ

    Hi-

Hi am donating some pipe organ records to the University of Oklahoma-School of Music. On thier home page, thay have this message printed. Maybe someone could help them out. Thanks, Larry.

The American Organ Institute seeks historical information related to the M.P. Möller Company of Hagerstown, Maryland and the Philadelphia Municipal Auditorium also known as the Philadelphia Civic Center. AOI also seeks quality recordings of Möller Opus 5819 and any other information that might be available related to this instrument. If you'd like to share any materials or information in your possession with the American Organ Institute please contact us to discuss your contribution.

If you go on the school's web site http://aoi.ou.edu/ click on the "instruments" tab and you will find some pretty interesting stories and pictures about the school's collection of pipe organs.

you damn right it was....i wanted to buy it but they wouldn't let me...it was for educational purposes only....aka being donated to a university....

thats the same thing that chicago wants with Austin's 558 that was in the Medinah Temple. My argument is that these organs were going to be destroyed along with the building so why cant I buy one and stick it in my house like Barris Norris.

I did miss out on Mr. Farnum's masterpiece Casavant right before I learned about the OCH....that would have been the PERFECT nucleus for my instrument.

well the M&O project screeched to a halt in november when I went from making 6 figures a month to 5. Hopefully it will start up again soon once Bush is out of office.

i sort of like the moller but it is a L O N G ways away from ~550 ranks (225 pipes and 325 digital)....the master sceme now is Stephen Bicknell's Hackenback Organ come to life....the first 222 stops are pipe and the rest are digital....however i am still short on funds so all of this is still talk at this point

the renowned westpoint organ began as a modest 38 rk instrument in 1911

today it is being added to so that it will approach in the neighborhood of 380+ ranks

                      if you are serious

i can help you with a home organ worthy of any space

to copy bicknell or any other organ is a pipe dream

you need a unique organ all your own

                      otherwise whats the point?

we have a 1920s university austin 4m in storage and a 1920s/1970s hillgreen ecclesiatical-organ in storage

these 2 organs are different yet sufficiently similar to make a nucleus for a grand sound

they are available to you and we can install

i will draw up a master scheme if you wish for future expansion

                      let us know

                        Sir:

Last year you were getting a digital. Now you say you want a Hackenback-Bicknell hybrid pipe-digital combo. i am offering you a comrehensive design using 2 existing organs. Ive sent you part of the master scheme and am waiting to send you the balance. To house a hackenback scheme a music room might not be large enuff since it was conceived albeit in jest for a super cathedral with a 200ft high dome.

Forgive me for doubting you. But I cant help but wonder why you want 550 ranks? Could your neighbors survive full organ on that not to mention your own hearing?

                          Re: Moller pipe organ

                          reasons....

                          1. Last year I was -----|    |------ that close to getting a fully digital 275 rank instrument.

                          2. When the economy crashed at least for me back in february I had to put the project on permanant hold. Now there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

                          3. During that time between march and august i studied all of the stoplists on Die Orgelseite that had over 10,000 pipes...i found that every single one's tonal capabilities could be captured in bicknell's organ.

                          4. The music room is the size of a soccer field with a 42' celing. It was originally acoustically designed to house a 120 rank pipe organ with plenty of room for up to 4 full length 32's.

                          5. The reason that I want 550 ranks is ego mixed with my extreamism. Like Carlo always says "Nothing exceeds like excess."

                          6. I have 50 acres of land...that is plenty....judging by the tests that we did with some of the Definitive Technology speakers the max db that we could achieve was ~142 dba at 10 ft. The state trumpet at st john's hits about 125 dba. I think that is plenty for the "Last Trumpet" on 200" of wind. However, I just might have someone make me up one pipe just to see.

                          7. I would NEVER use all the stops at one time. Most of them being digital it makes no sense to. However, I would wear ear protection when I try to shatter the windows.

                          8. Myself being bipolar and being on a high during the summer months and a low during the winter months can definitely coincide with my posts on this forum.

                            dear sir

i wish you the best in your quest to recreate the bicknell dream organ

when u have done so then and only then let us know

till then please spare the forum anymore of your posts concerning the latest plans u may have

they are beginning to seem like a pipe[digital] dream even with ur 52 acres and 10s of millions of dollars

i offered u a realistic scheme albeit incomplete and u showed 0 interest

                            thats fine

but that was my litmus test to determine if u r on the level

i wont say what i think in this regard

                              not

oscar pearson at aeolian-skinner voiced the state trumpet u mention and went deaf

ur explanation for the bicknell scheme is more than ego

can u play to save ur life

                              if not

then u will need to hire firmin swinnen from e i dupont estate to play for u

each time u announce a new plan it is more questionable than the previous

one could conclude that u r suffering from some delusions

                              hopefully not

lets just say u r an organ enthusiast with tremedous excitement
