  • 1836 E and G.G. Hook Brothers: Opus 26 restoration

    Hello All,

It's been quite some time since I posted here, but I thought folks might be interested in some restoration work that is being done to the organ I play.

The organ noted above unfortunately got an infestation of mold and needs to be disassembled and cleaned, top to bottom. We are getting some work done at the same time to make maintenance easier.

We have been fundraising since about November, and we finally got enough money raised to hire A. David Moore to get started. David has been maintaining the organ for nearly 50 years, and I think his knowledge and respect for the instrument is critical to the success of this restoration/preservation job.

I'm tickled pink that we got such a strong response from our community to get this fixed. We had many donations from non-parishioners, who, I think, were motivated by the historic nature of this instrument. It was awarded a certificate of recognition from the Organ Historical Society in 2013, and is now considered a National Heritage pipe organ.

Anyway, good to be back on the Forum, and I'm looking forward to updating folks here on the progress.

    Best Regards,

    Cam
