Buchtel Chapel burned to the ground a feweeks before the Denver Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society was to remove the fullength 32' wood Diaphone!

A few months earlier, I snuck organist Mary Milligan, MM - Indiana University, in an unauthorized "crawl" through the organ.
(Austin? We.re able to enter the main wind chest.
Above us, the rows of holes for the ranks of pipes were labeled in beautiful, ornate calligraphy which no.ne would see!)

As a professional firefighter, I had commented to Mary thathe place was a fire hazard because of theater costumes strewn about in the basement.
(Nothing appeared to be an imminent hazard in starting a fire, otherwise I would have requested the Denver Fire Department do an inspection of the place.)

Since the big organ was unplayable, an 8?-rank unit organ was down on the floor-level near the front of the chapel.

Does anyone know abouthe organ and how it wound up having no console?

Thank you.
