    Conn 611 moving

    Hello everyone,

I am a piano technician and mover. Recently, I have had a rush of requests to move organs. I now have a request to move a Conn 611 pipe organ. Do you have any suggestions on how to transport this organ and how to replace the pipes after transport? Apparently, the client tells me the pipes have already been removed in preparation for moving the organ. He wanted me to replace the pipes. I don't really feel that I am qualified for that unless the pipes and the slots are numbered/labeled. I feel it will be very difficult for me to replace the pipes when I did not remove them in the first place.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    J. Logan Blewett

    J. Logan,

Welcome to the Forum. I hope you continue to participate here as the need arises.

Conn pipe organ-no such thing. The purchaser probably is referring to Conn Speaker Pipes, which are essentially a speaker box with 4 6x9 speakers in the base, which speak upwards through a series of 24 hollow tubes (pipes, if you will) of varying sizes and diameters. You can find an example of them

Unless the organ has MIDI and a blower with pipes, reservoir, and wind chest, it will be what I have linked above. I hope that helps ease your mind.

    Again, welcome to the Forum!

Conn did build a few electronic/pipe hybrid organs using Teller pipes.

Really? That's interesting to know! Thank you for correcting my error. It will be nice to learn from the OP which type of organ the client actually has.

Logan, you should consider taking pictures of any interesting moves. We love that stuff here.
