Over the past year we have been working on restoring the wind chests for the two 100" reeds in Gallery I (Right Center chamber) and it is fitting that today - 91 years after the Tuba Maxima was debuted on October 27, 1930 - we can give you a short video re-introducing them to the world after many decades of silence! While the wind chests have been restored, the pipes themselves have not. Several have been repaired and both ranks given a quick cleaning and they tuned up remarkably well after sitting silent for decades. This clip is only a brief preview and more audio of these incredible ranks will be appearing in recordings soon!
