Today the Dr. Philliphs Performing Arts Center was unveiled in Orlando, Fl. The Acoustical hall will include a pipe organ. However a builder has not been selected. The DPAC will cost an estimated $468 Million. In the first rendering you will see that it is located directly across the street from First Methodist Orlando.
Downtown Olando is justslightly over 50 miles from where I live...not far at all to hear world-class orchestral performances (and hopefully organ recitals). Unless I missed it, I could find no mention anywhereof a concert hall organ to be built. It'll be interesting to see who gets the contract to designthat instrument (Fisk would be a good choice...maybe Schantz...how 'bout Odell?)!
The acustic hallhas a space set aside in it for a future pipe organ. Untill then I herd a rumor that when the Orchestra needs an organ they will go across the street to First Methodist.
