  • Potentiometer to discrete outputs for swell engine stages

I seem to recall seeing a product that would take a voltage from a potentiometer and the sequentially energize discrete outputs to control a swell engine. Most modern control systems have this built in but I think I remember seeing a board that did just this.

    any ideas?

You’re right there are lots of options for this. This one is available from Peterson:

The Peterson RC-150 is a swell engine that expects 16 discrete inputs. I believe haskey is looking for a circuit that takes a variable voltage from the potentiometer connected to an expression pedal and converts it to the discrete signals required by a swell engine such as the RC-150.

This would be easy to implement with an Arduino using only minimal code, and possibly some driver chips, if driving magnets directly.

Ah, I didn’t go through the spec for the RC150 very thoroughly. You’re right it’s pretty easy to implement using an arduino. I could do that myself! Not aware of an off the shelf product that would do it though.
